Warning:
Kilns and firing ceramic work is often unpredictable. As a ceramic artist, you practice not only the art of shaping clay, but also the art of letting go. If your piece meets its fate in the kiln and it is no fault of my own, you will not be refunded the class fee. Although no physical piece is acquired, you have still left the class with a new skill under your belt! A truly invaluable item.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the ceramics studio located?
We have two studios: A (main studio) & B (little studio)
Studio A - is located in the Asch Building. We are the last door, right next to the Vintage Shop, opposite New Heights Coffee Roasters.
Studio B - is situated at the back of Studio A. To access it, please enter Studio A, and a staff member will escort you.
When will my finished pieces be ready for pickup?
If you took a one-time wheel throwing class or hand building workshop, your finished pieces will be ready to pick up within 4-5 weeks after your class date. You will be notified via email when they are ready to pick up.
Do you teach group wheel throwing classes?
The largest group we can accommodate for wheel throwing classes is 9 participants.
Are classes BYOB?
Yes, feel free to bring your favorite beer or wine- Just no hard liquor.
I don’t see any available days/times on the calendar.
If there are no available days or times appearing on the scheduling calendar it means all classes in the near future are booked. There are most likely classes available a little further ahead on the calendar.
If only one time slot is appearing on a given day, this means the rest of the time slots for that day are already booked.
Do you offer kid’s classes?
Wheel throwing classes are suitable for children above the age of 10. Hand building classes are limited to 8 years old and up.
Do you offer open studio time?
We currently offer studio time exclusively for our members. If you’re interested in joining, please check our membership options for details on access and benefits. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Can we make whatever we want in our class?
Yes- No matter what class you sign up for, you can make whatever you like. (You are only limited by your own abilities!) For wheel throwing classes, feel free to ask at the beginning of your class how to make whatever you have in mind.
I’m not sure which class to choose- What are the differences?
Every wheel throwing class is a two hour session, the only difference between the different options are the number of class sessions and the number of participants in the class.
The length of a ceramics class (whether it takes place in one day, over the course of two days, etc) is important because there are certain things you will only be able to make in a two session class- such as a mug with a handle. Read each class description for a little more information about what you will be able to make in each class!
