Warning:

Kilns and firing ceramic work is often unpredictable. As a ceramic artist, you practice not only the art of shaping clay, but also the art of letting go. If your piece meets its fate in the kiln and it is no fault of my own, you will not be refunded the class fee. Although no physical piece is acquired, you have still left the class with a new skill under your belt! A truly invaluable item.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the ceramics studio located?

We have two studios: A (tiny studio) & B (big studio).

Studio A is located in the back patio of Asch Building. You can enter the building through the Market and then exit through the back door, take a right, then follow the pathway to find the back patio. The ceramics studio will be the first door on your right.

Studio B is located adjacent to Asch Building. You can enter through Asch, then follow the green painted dots on the floor to find Studio B. (Feel free to ask any Asch employee for directions!)

When will my finished pieces be ready for pickup?

If you took a one-time wheel throwing class or hand building workshop, your finished pieces will be ready to pick up within 4-5 weeks after your class date. You will be notified via email when they are ready to pick up.

Do you teach group wheel throwing classes?

The largest group we can accommodate for wheel throwing classes is 8 participants.

Are classes BYOB?

Yes, feel free to bring your favorite beer or wine- Just no hard liquor. There is also great selection of all natural wine Asch Building- feel free to arrive a little early and grab something to enjoy during your class!

I don’t see any available days/times on the calendar.

If there are no available days or times appearing on the scheduling calendar it means all classes in the near future are booked. There are most likely classes available a little further ahead on the calendar.

If only one time slot is appearing on a given day, this means the rest of the time slots for that day are already booked.

Do you offer kid’s classes?

Wheel throwing classes are suitable for children above the age of 10. Hand building classes are open to all ages!

Do you offer open studio time?

Because we have a very small studio space we do not offer open studio time to work outside of a scheduled class.

Can we make whatever we want in our class?

Yes- No matter what class you sign up for, you can make whatever you like. (You are only limited by your own abilities!) For wheel throwing classes, feel free to ask at the beginning of your class how to make whatever you have in mind.

I’m not sure which class to choose- What are the differences?

Every wheel throwing class is a two hour session, the only difference between the different options are the number of class sessions and the number of participants in the class.

The length of a ceramics class (whether it takes place in one day, over the course of two days, etc) is important because there are certain things you will only be able to make in a two session class- such as a mug with a handle. Read each class description for a little more information about what you will be able to make in each class!
